Corruption in Illinois

Ok bloggers this is what I want to know. Why do elected officials think that they can do as they please and there is no consequence to their actions. Case in point, Ex Governor Rob Blagojevich was convicted of trying to sell or Trade Obama’s Old Senate Seat....who does that? A jury in Chicago on Monday convicted the former governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, of nearly all the corruption charges against him, including trying to sell or trade the Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama.

It took the jurors nine days of deliberating to come to a verdict which was released on Monday.
Blagojevich had faced 20 charges, including the Senate seat accusation and that he schemed to shake down executives for campaign donations.
He testified for seven days, denying wrongdoing. Prosecutors said he lied and the proof was on F.B.I. wiretaps. Now is he crazy or what.......give me your thoughts on this foolishness.

  1. It's true...most of the time they can do what ever they want without worry. This is why he is so stunned by the decision.

How many bankers, brokers and Wall Street executives have been held accountable for thier part in the economic downturn? I believe zero. They continue to do the same things that got us here.

  3. I believe Blagojevich is guilty of his crimes. The problem I have is that he was tried a second time for the same crime. I thought double jeopardy was only an exciting part of my favorite game show.

This story is less about the corruption of Blagojevich and more about the corruption of our criminal justice and political system (I won't get into how this ties back to Obama right now). We need to be on the lookout for prosecutors bringing the same case back to court because they did not get the verdict they wanted the first time. If this is allow to happen then GOD help us all.
