Corruption in Illinois-Blagojevich re-indicted for same crime

Danyel, per Chicago Breaking News Center on April 16th, 2010 Blagojevich was indicted on 16 counts which included racketeering and conspiracy. The revised indictment didn't allege any new wrongdoing by Blagojevich but included 8 new counts that do not rely on honest services fraud, the new indictment includes racketeering, attempted extortion, bribery, conspiracy to commit bribery and conspiracy to commit extortion.

Sheldon Sorosky, one of Blagojevich attorney's states that the new indictment containes the "same false charges realleged under different theories". Sorosky also speculated that the prosecuters sought a new indictment against Blagojevich due to they were afraid the U.S. Supreme Court would imminently declare the honest services law unconstitutional. So there you have it, I know his attorney's wish the allegations were false now that he has been convicted....oh well.

Corruption in Illinois

Ok bloggers this is what I want to know. Why do elected officials think that they can do as they please and there is no consequence to their actions. Case in point, Ex Governor Rob Blagojevich was convicted of trying to sell or Trade Obama’s Old Senate Seat....who does that? A jury in Chicago on Monday convicted the former governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich, of nearly all the corruption charges against him, including trying to sell or trade the Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama.

It took the jurors nine days of deliberating to come to a verdict which was released on Monday.
Blagojevich had faced 20 charges, including the Senate seat accusation and that he schemed to shake down executives for campaign donations.
He testified for seven days, denying wrongdoing. Prosecutors said he lied and the proof was on F.B.I. wiretaps. Now is he crazy or what.......give me your thoughts on this foolishness.
